GR14 - Route of the Wines of Europe

After crossing the river Távora, coming from Sendim or Tabuaço, it goes through Vale de Penela (Riodades) heading for Paredes da Beira, which goes by road whose pavement remains give it a very old statute.

After passing by the parish council headquarters through the village along the main street, go past the chapel of St. Sebastian, going by the traditional roads, for Trevões to the church.

From here, take the road to the old bridge of Torto river, now disappeared. After vineyards, almond trees and eucalyptus trees across the river next to the old bridge ruins that go up to Senhora da Estrada. After passing the almond factory take paths that will take you to Quinta do Sairrão, finally arriving at S. João da Pesqueira.

Then drive to São Salvador do Mundo passing beside the holm oak forest and the football field.

In S. Salvador do Mundo, next to the first chapel, take a track that goes down to the right and that heads to the vineyards of the Douro terraces. Initially shepherds tracks and then by paths of vineyards and for some inevitable asphalt you will arrive at Vale da Vila starting to go down through a path that runs alongside the football field, to the DOuro river and the Pier of Ferradosa.

The Pier of Ferradosa, along the river, begins the climbing that provides stunning panoramic views of the terraced vineyards, of which we highlight the Quinta de Vargelas, finally reaching the viewpoint of the same name.

Then, walking through a stretch of about one kilometer on asphalt, you will arrive Olas through panoramic paths, the last County village of S. João da Pesqueira and where the GR14 "European Wine Route" starts its journey through Vila Nova de Foz Coa.
